"...the way we do things is just as important as what we do. Our issuing of transcripts, our recording of grades, our memoranda, our telephone calls, and our personal relationships with our students and our faculty and with each other must all bear these hallmarks. That is, the style of what we do is in a sense what we actually do."

James Gross, Ph.D.
My primary aim as a teacher is to help students think more clearly and critically, and to foster an appreciation of the methods and findings of psychological science. To achieve this aim, I work hard to create an environment in which students read, write, think, and talk with each other as well as with me. As Director of the Psychology One Program, I take special pride in our team of Teaching Assistants dedicated to becoming world class teachers in a world class research environment. Investing in teachers is a rewarding endeavor, as I believe that the best way to learn is often by teaching others. It is a real joy to share the pleasure of helping others learn to think critically about psychological science.
